| SYSTEMS MANAGER
SALARY: DEPARTMENT: Corporate Services - Legal Services DUTIES Reporting to the City Solicitor, this employee will be responsible for the planning, analysis, design, development, purchase, testing, implementation, operation, maintenance, security and enhancement of all computer systems and resources for the Legal Services Division of Corporate Services including a Novell Local Area Network and IBM system 36 computer hardware/operating systems, and PC DOCS and MANAC Legal Systems for lawyers software. This employee will: prepare the computer capital budget and represent the Legal Services Division on City-wide committees and meetings related to technology, computer systems and technological change be responsible for the telephone systems manage user support and computer training and development for staff, as well as assist staff in their utilization of computer products, and maintain user manuals make effective recommendations and be responsible for decisions on hiring, work assignments, performance and disciplinary issues for the systems support staff ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Your application must describe your: extensive experience in the acquisition, installation, management, and technical support of multi-user operating systems such as Unix, Novell NetWare, Windows NT, OS/2, System/36, AS/400 extensive experience as a project leader or manger in the design and development of large systems extensive experience in the effective application of information technology in business operations demonstrated fiscal and human resource management experience including preparing and managing computer capital and project budgets, and supervising, coaching and training staff university degree in computer science or approved combination of education and experience The successful candidate must also have: demonstrated problem solving, conflict resolution and consensus building skills excellent communication, customer service and technical skills awareness of new and emerging technologies and understanding of trends in the field Interested individuals should submit their resume by mail (quote File No. 97-022-N), or by e-mail as an attachment in WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows quoting File No. 97-022-N in the Subject line, by 4:30 p.m., Friday, October 10, 1997.
