- Get Your Distro Here
- 
          
          Download one of the following distributions: For Try-out and Installation For Long-term Try-out 
 (Persistence)Linux Mint Debian Edition (1.4 GBytes, .ISO file) Linux Mint 16 Petra (1.3 GBytes, .ISO file) For really old computers LMDE 32-bit (1.4 GBytes, .ISO file) Petra 32-bit (1.3 GBytes, .ISO file) You may need to right-click and select "Save Link" 
 
- Create your bootable USB drive
- 
          
          - Download Universal USB Installer (UUI) (1.1 MBytes, .EXE file)
- Run the UUI program (doesn't need installation)
- Acknowledge the GNU General Public License
- Use these settings:
  
 - Select a Linux Distribution: Linux Mint
- Browse to: linuxmint-201403-mate-dvd-64bit.iso
- Select your USB Flash Drive: Pick a letter
- We will format: Checkmark this box
- Set a Persistent file: As large as possible
- Click Create
 
- UUI asks for confirmation:
   - Click Yes
 
- UUI shows the progress of the installation:
   
- You may see this window while UUI extracts documents
  
 Don't click anything!
- Installation is complete!
  
 - Click Close
 
 Alternative to UUI: UNetbootin v5.8.5 (5 MBytes, .EXE file), the Universal Netboot Installer 
 
- Set your BIOS to boot from the USB drive
- 
          - Turn your computer off and on again.
- Press the key to enter the BIOS. ESC, F1 or DEL are typical.
- Set the boot sequence to boot a USB drive before the hard drive. Different BIOSes do this in different ways.
- Save BIOS changes, reboot with the Linux USB drive inserted.
 
- Enjoy your Linux Mint operating system!
