  8. CLEAR CMOS DATA
1. Identify your motherboard's model and version by examining the label on the last slot.

Example 1 : KT7-RAID v1.01

Example 2: BD7-RAID v1.0

Example 3: BD7II-RAID v1.0

Back side of BD7II-RAID v1.0

2. Double-check the current BIOS ID.

The current BIOS ID is "AJ". If you already have the latest BIOS, no update is necessary.

If you don't want to open the chassis to check the revision of mainboard, the alternative is checking it via BIOS id POSTed on the screen.

3.Download the appropriate BIOS file.
Select BIOS download page.
Select motherboard model and bios file. The example here is BD7II (Intel Pentium4 Platform)
4. Self-extract the BIOS file by double clicking the downloaded file.

The case of AWARD BIOS

A:\>BD72AJ.EXE

Inflating: bd72_aj.bin

4.a) The self-extract file extract the .BIN file only.

4.b) The self-extract file extract 5 files which including awdflash.exe, abitfae.bat, runme.bat and awdflash.exe.

The case of AMI BIOS

A:\>SR7A8.EXE

5. Make a bootable floppy disk and copy the necessary files onto it.

You may make a bootable floppy disk either in Windows Explorer or in DOS mode. In Windows Explorer, just right click on floppy icon and select "format". In MS-DOS prompt, just type "format a: /s" please.

C:\>format a: s

If you are using Windows2000 or WindowsMe, you may make a bootable disk by using DrDOS 7.X boot disk. By running DrDOS it will extract boot image to a floppy disk. If you are using WindowsXP, you may make a bootdisk by right click on floppy icon, see this TIP for more detail.

After formatting the disk and transferring the system to it, copy the files into it.

5.a) If the bios file extracted in step.4 contains the .BIN file only (step 4.a), you may need copy 2 files to floppy. The first is the BIOS flash utility "awdflash.exe" and the other is the decompressed BIOS binary file (from step 4).

5.b) If the bios file extracted in step.5 contains 5 files (step 4.b), copy all files to the floppy disk.

6. Boot from the floppy disk.
In the BIOS, set "floppy" first in the boot sequence. (save and exit)

7. FLASH BIOS

After booting from the floppy, flash the BIOS in pure DOS mode by following instructions:

Tha case of AWARD BIOS

If the self-extract file in step.4 extracts the .BIN file only (step 4.a, 5.a) , excute awdflash.exe by this way please.

A:\>awdflash BD72_AJ.BIN /py /sn /cd /cp /cc /cks /R

Otherwise the self-extrat file should extract 5 files which including runme.bat (step 4.b, 5.b). Just execute runme.bat by typing "runme" and enter.

The case of AMI BIOS

A:\>AMIFLASH SR7_A8.ROM

or execute RUNME.BAT by typing "RUNME" and enter.

8. CLEAR CMOS DATA

Switch off the power supply unit or pull off the power cord. There is a CCMOS jumper near the battery. Change the jumper position from default 1-2 to 2-3 for one minute to discharge the CMOS data, and then put it back to default 1-2. Switch on the power supply unit or pull in the power cord. Press the power-on button to boot up system. If it works, hit "Del" key to enter the BIOS setup page to do correct settings.
