Hi Everyone, 

As the strike is halfway into its 5th week, I am starting to realize that the semester is in jeopardy. With that being said, the conference is starting to be affected. This is due to the need of the food planning as well the hardware department not being available to take requests and get the conference room setup. 

The other thing to consider is that the timeline will be changed quite significantly from what I had originally thought, with school being in full tilt in January when I thought it would be a little bit simpler. 

All of these variables are adding up and I am thinking that it may be time to postpone the conference to later in the year or even next. I know this throws a wrench in some things, but I think it would be better to make this decision now comparatively to a month from now. Currently we have no registrations (no refunds) and we can move forward. If we move forward with changing the date or rescheduling, then I can have more time to dedicate directly to the conference rather then worrying about the strike as well. 

If we are all in agreement then I will send an email to all of the speakers and make sure everyone is notified. We have laid some great foundation for future conferences and I think the conference deserves 100% of my time. Once out of school I will have a large amount of time to dedicate and we can pick it up again. I appreciate all of your hard work and support in the endeavour. If there were any costs associated with the process, I can reimburse and we can pick it up again when we choose to.
