Elmira power plant might get around zoning laws – Waterloo Record

…… Woolwich council has blocked an energy-from-waste plant from opening near Elmira homes. But the province may intervene to lift the roadblock. The Green Energy Act proposes to exempt renewable energy projects from local zoning and municipal controls. Approvals would be handled entirely by the province. The bill was introduced in February and is under consideration by a committee at Queen’s Park. ……
