The only way to stop the Bio-En plant from being built so close to downtown is to Tell the MoE. (If you’re a little late they will probably still accept it).
Don’t have to get fancy, just tell them you don’t want the Bio-En facility located in town, and why. The most common reasons are:
Increased Traffic
- transport trucks through town
- wear and tear on roads
Health and Safety
- truck traffic dangerous for kids/pedestrians,
- diesel fumes, and molds etc will impact on air quality,
- waste trucked in open trailers only covered with tarps potential contamination
Odour
- Bad smell for Elmira:
- quality of life,
- downtown core will take financial hit
- property values drop
Any environmental benefit will be more than wiped out by environmental impact of trucking the waste to Elmira.
The deadline to complain is Sunday, August 21st, 2010

Tell the Provincial Government this is a bad idea;
