Re: [stopthestink] Reminder – Meeting on Wednesday

Sorry Ed, and others. I won’t be able to make it to this meeting, or a
meeting on 1 September either, if one should be scheduled for next week.

For some reason, all my other evening meetings are on Wednesdays.
Mondays are bad too.

Perhaps meeting days could alternate between Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so
that others with booked-up Wednesdays can attend.

Hopefully someone can post the meeting notes here so I can catch up.

[stopthestink] Reminder – Meeting on Wednesday

I hope everyone is having a great week!

This is just a reminder that there is a meeting about Stop the Stink in Elmira on Wednesday August 25 at 6:30 pm at the Woolwich Memorial Center on Snyder Ave. I hope to see everyone there.

Thanks
Ed Speers

Re: [stopthestink] Lawn signs missing?

I agree that it is probably kids…but the publicity won’t hurt if we handle
it correctly. What are you going to do if they steal your yard signs? They
stole mine when I ran.

Re: [stopthestink] Lawn signs missing?

I think Lucy is right; if kids took them they’d throw them away too.

Which doesn’t necessarily mean that anyone from the BioGas group is involved. There could be many people who would rather not have the angry red “No BioWaste” signs peppering Elmira’s streets.

Anyone trying to attract business to Elmira, say, wouldn’t want the signs up.

Anyone trying to sell a house. When people are house hunting, they look closely at lawn signs. People may well think twice before moving to Elmira with a Bio-waste facility in the works.

Of course, after the Bio-Waste facility is up and running it will be even harder to sell an Elmira house. Not just in the immediate vicinity, anywhere. The smell will effect all of the downtown; not just that day. Why would anyone want to move to the farthest out of the new subdivisons if the core is going to smell like a composter?

Another good reason why the Woolwich Council needs to fight hard against this.

I don’t think anyone has a problem with green energy sources, but this is not something that should be placed in a settlement area.

Hi Dan
My first thoughts were kids as well, but then I think they would have been found somewere. Kids are not going to take them home, and they seem to have disappeared.. I think we might have some opposition to stop the stink.

Hey Dan:

I am thinking this was kids that don’t have enough to do. I cannot think of anyone/group who would do this since we have seen no real opposition to the stop the stink campaign….

stolen signs

well, it is starting…apparently some of the yard signs have been stolen. if this happens to you please contact the police and report it. they won’t do anything but we can make sure they know that someone is doing this and it is costing us money…plus it will get in the papers! we still have signs if anyone needs another.
